About the Position

Purpose:

To perform the duties of a chemical technologist involved in the Quality Control Unit

Minimum requirements:

  • BSc Degree in Chemistry
  • 2 years' experience preferably in quality control in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience in Quality Management Systems
  • Experience in the operation of microbiology quality control equipment and processes
  • Experience in the operation of analytical equipment and processes
  • Experience in writing and implementing procedures
  • Valid Code 8 drivers' license
  • Working hours may include unusual hours dependant on operational demands

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Perform chemical quality control of samples
  • Perform quality control of finished products
  • Perform sterility testing
  • Perform endotoxin tests
  • Test the filter integrity of all dispensing
  • Perform pH tests
  • Determine radionuclidic purity
  • Determine radiochemical purity
  • Physical checks (lead pots, labels, vials, visual inspection of product)
  • Determine chemical purity
  • Perform radioactivity measurements
  • House-keeping of QC laboratories
  • Prepare cleaning solutions for Clean Rooms
  • Perform air-particle counting
  • Temperature & humidity recording
  • Weighing Balance calibration
  • Performing qualification on equipment and troubleshooting when necessary
  • Perform validation of equipment and test methods
  • Removal of biological waste by external company
  • Report and ensure adequate stock levels at all times
  • Sterilisation and safe handling of media
  • Monthly cleaning of HPLC columns
  • Monthly cleaning of RID cells
  • Housekeeping of packing material store
  • Housekeeping of Raw Material and Flammable Store
  • Co-ordinate the spraying of lead pots used for the final packing of radiopharmaceuticals
  • Setting goals for the development and optimisation of procedures in compliance with product specifications and cGMP; to minimise radiation exposure; and to increase efficiency
  • Experiment with various options and select the most appropriate
  • Identify problems & investigate possible solutions
  • Compile report on experiment or solutions
  • Complete experimental work and write-up of Project
